In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel, spoke I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed My people Israel, saying, “Why build ye not Me a house of cedar?”’

Now therefore, so shalt thou say unto My servant David, ‘Thus saith the Lord of hosts: I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people, over Israel.

And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men who are on the earth.

Wherever I have moved with all the Israelites,(A) did I ever say to any of their rulers whom I commanded to shepherd(B) my people Israel, “Why have you not built me a house(C) of cedar?(D)”’

“Now then, tell my servant David, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty says: I took you from the pasture, from tending the flock,(E) and appointed you ruler(F) over my people Israel.(G) I have been with you wherever you have gone,(H) and I have cut off all your enemies from before you.(I) Now I will make your name great, like the names of the greatest men on earth.(J)
