²⁵ Sheva was secretary; Zadok^(A) and Abiathar were priests; ²⁶ and Ira the Jairite^[a] was David’s priest.

⁷ Adonijah conferred with Joab^(A) son of Zeruiah and with Abiathar^(B) the priest, and they gave him their support. ⁸ But Zadok^(C) the priest, Benaiah^(D) son of Jehoiada, Nathan^(E) the prophet, Shimei^(F) and Rei and David’s special guard^(G) did not join Adonijah.
