³ Then David ^[a]defeated ^(A)Hadadezer, the son of Rehob king of Zobah, as ^(B)he went to restore his ^[b]power at the Euphrates River.

⁵ When ^(A)the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer, king of Zobah, David ^[a]killed twenty-two thousand men among the Arameans.

⁶ For ^(A)the Lord had made the army of the Arameans hear a sound of chariots, a sound of horses, that is, the sound of a great army; and they said to one another, “Behold, the king of Israel has hired ^(B)the kings of the Hittites and ^(C)the kings of the Egyptians against us, to ^[a]attack us!”
