6 David then placed garrisons in the Damascus region of Aram, and the Arameans became David’s subjects, paying tribute. The Lord brought David victory in all his undertakings. 7 David took the golden shields that were carried by Hadadezer’s attendants and brought them to Jerusalem. (These Shishak, king of Egypt, took away when he came to Jerusalem in the days of Rehoboam, son of Solomon.)

New International Version
6 He put garrisons(A) in the Aramean kingdom of Damascus, and the Arameans became subject(B) to him and brought tribute. The Lord gave David victory wherever he went.(C)
7 David took the gold shields(D) that belonged to the officers of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem.

6 Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought gifts. And the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went.
7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
