So King David sent and brought him from the house of Makir the son of Ammiel from Lo Debar. So Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David. And he fell on his face and did obeisance. David said, “Mephibosheth,” and he said, “I am ready to serve you.”[a] Then David said to him, “Don’t be afraid, for I will certainly show[b] loyal love to you for the sake of Jonathan your father, and I will restore to you all the lands of Saul your father. And you shall always eat food at my table.”

When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed down to pay him honor.(A)

David said, “Mephibosheth!”

“At your service,” he replied.

“Don’t be afraid,” David said to him, “for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan.(B) I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.(C)
