6 Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan the son of Saul came to David and fell upon his face and bowed down. Then David said, “Mephibosheth,” and he responded, “I am your servant.”
7 David said to him, “Do not be afraid, for I will certainly show you kindness on account of Jonathan, your father. I will return to you every field of Saul, your father, and you will eat at my table perpetually.”
8 He bowed low and said, “What is your servant that you should be concerned for a dead dog like me?”

6 When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed down to pay him honor.(A)
David said, “Mephibosheth!”
“At your service,” he replied.
7 “Don’t be afraid,” David said to him, “for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan.(B) I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.(C)”
8 Mephibosheth(D) bowed down and said, “What is your servant, that you should notice a dead dog(E) like me?”
