7 Therefore, since we have these promises,^(A) dear friends,^(B) let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness^(C) out of reverence for God.

Warning and Encouragement

¹⁴ Make every effort to live in peace with everyone^(A) and to be holy;^(B) without holiness no one will see the Lord.^(C)

¹⁵ But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;^{(A) 16} for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”^[a](B)

¹⁷ Since you call on a Father^(C) who judges each person’s work^(D) impartially,^(E) live out your time as foreigners^(F) here in reverent fear.^(G)

⁷ For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.^(A)
