¹⁸ Then King Rehoboam sent ^(A)Hadoram,^[a] who was taskmaster over the forced labour, and the people of Israel stoned him to death with stones. And King Rehoboam quickly mounted his chariot to flee to Jerusalem.

⁶ Ahishar was in charge of the palace; and ^(A)Adoniram the son of Abda was in charge of ^(B)the forced labour.

^21 (A)their descendants who were left after them in the land, ^(B)whom the people of Israel were unable to devote to destruction^[a]—^(C)these Solomon drafted to be ^(D)slaves, and so they are to this day.

¹⁰ However, ^(A)they did not drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer, so the Canaanites have lived in the midst of Ephraim to this day but have been made ^(B)to do forced labour.
