² And Ahaziah fell through the window lattice in his upper chamber which was in Samaria, and became ill. So he sent messengers and said to them, “Go, ^(A)inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron, ^(B)whether I will recover from this sickness.”

²⁴ But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “This man ^(A)casts out demons only by ^[a]Beelzebul the ruler of the demons.”

²⁷ And if ^(A)by ^[a]Beelzebul I cast out the demons, ^(B)by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore, they will be your judges.

²² The scribes who came down ^(A)from Jerusalem were saying, “He ^[a]is possessed by ^[b](B)Beelzebul,” and “^(C)He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons.”

¹⁵ But some of them said, “He casts out the demons ^(A)by ^(B)Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons.”

¹⁸ And if ^(A)Satan also has been divided against himself, how will his kingdom ^[a]stand? For you claim that I cast out the demons by ^(B)Beelzebul. ¹⁹ Yet if by ^(C)Beelzebul I cast out the demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore, they will be your judges.
