³⁸ Do not forget the ·agreement [covenant; treaty] I made with you, and do not ·honor [revere; fear] other gods. ³⁹ Instead ·worship [revere; fear] the Lord your God, who will ·save [rescue; ^Tdeliver] you from all your enemies.”

⁴⁰ But the Israelites did not listen. They ·kept on doing the same things they had done before [continued in their former practices/custom].
