¹⁴ Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah and said to him, “What did these men say, and from where have they come to you?” And Hezekiah said, “They have come from a far country, from Babylon.” ¹⁵ Isaiah said, “What have they seen in your house?” So Hezekiah ^[a]answered, “They have seen everything that is in my house; there is nothing among my treasuries that I have not shown them.”

¹⁶ Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the word of the Lord: ¹⁷ ‘Behold, the days are coming when ^(A)everything that is in your house, and what your fathers have stored up to this day, will be carried to Babylon; nothing will be left,’ says the Lord.

¹⁹ “Now as for you, son of man, ^[a](A)make two ways for the sword of the king of Babylon to come; both of them will go out of one land. And ^[b]make a signpost; ^[c]make it at the head of the way to the city.

¹⁴ So she increased her obscene practices. And she saw men ^(A)carved on the wall, images of the ^(B)Chaldeans drawn in bright red, ¹⁵ wearing belts around their waists, with flowing turbans on their heads, all of them looking like officers, ^[a]like the ^[b]Babylonians in Chaldea, the land of their birth. ¹⁶ And ^[c]when she saw them she ^(C)lusted after them and sent messengers to them in Chaldea. ¹⁷ And the ^[d](D)Babylonians came to her to the bed of love and defiled her with their obscene practice. And when she had been defiled by them, ^[e]she turned away from them in disgust.
