¹⁸ Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and set up a ^[a]pillar for himself, which is in ^(A)the King’s Valley. For he said, ^(B)“I have no son to keep my name in remembrance.” He called the pillar after his own name. And to this day it is called Absalom’s Monument.

¹⁴ They buried him in his own tomb, which he had ^[a]made for himself in the City of David; and they laid him in the bed which was filled ^(A)with spices and various ingredients prepared in a mixture of ointments. They made ^(B)a very great burning for him.

⁶⁰ and ^(A)laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed.
