^14 (A)I will be a father to him and he will be a son to Me; ^(B)when he does wrong, I will discipline him with a rod of men and with strokes of sons of mankind,

⁷ It is for discipline that you endure; ^(A)God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? ⁸ But if you are without discipline, ^(B)of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. ⁹ Furthermore, we had ^[a]earthly fathers to discipline us, and we ^(C)respected them; shall we not much more be subject to ^(D)the Father of ^[b]spirits, and ^(E)live? ¹⁰ For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, ^(F)so that we may share His holiness.

^19 (A)Those whom I love, I rebuke and discipline; therefore be zealous and ^(B)repent.
