^24 (A)The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, ^(B)skillful in teaching, patient when wronged,

⁹ But ^(A)avoid ^(B)foolish controversies and ^(C)genealogies and strife and ^(D)disputes about the Law, for they are ^(E)useless and worthless.

³ Do nothing ^[a]from ^[b](A)selfishness or ^(B)empty conceit, but with humility ^(C)consider one another as more important than yourselves;

^14 (A)Pursue peace with all people, and the ^(B)holiness without which no one will ^(C)see the Lord.

³ for you are still fleshly. For since there is ^(A)jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking ^(B)like ordinary people?

⁴ he is ^(A)conceited and understands nothing; but he ^[a]has a sick craving for ^(B)controversial questions and ^(C)disputes about words, from which come envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, ⁵ and constant friction between ^(D)people of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who ^(E)suppose that ^[b]godliness is a means of gain.

¹⁷ Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and ^[a]hindrances ^(A)contrary to the teaching which you learned, and ^(B)turn away from them.

¹⁸ If possible, ^(A)so far as it depends on you, ^(B)be at peace with all people.

¹⁶ For where ^(A)jealousy and ^[a]selfish ambition exist, ^[b]there is disorder and every evil thing.
