Paul’s Apostolate. 7 Did I make a mistake by preaching the gospel of God without charge, humbling myself[a] so that you might be exalted? 8 I robbed other Churches, accepting support from them in order to serve you. 9 And when I was with you and in need, I did not burden anyone, for the brethren who came from Macedonia supplied my needs.

I refrained, and will continue to refrain, from burdening you in any way. 10 As surely as the truth of Christ is in me, this boast of mine will not be silenced in the regions of Achaia. Read full chapter

  1. 2 Corinthians 11:7 Humbling myself: apparently Paul’s opponents took issue with the fact that he failed to accept payment for his services. This went counter to the practice of first-century traveling philosophers and religious teachers, who exacted payment in proportion to the worth of their performance.
