¹² Indeed, all who want to live in a godly way in Christ Jesus ^(A)will be persecuted.

^9 [a](A)So resist him, ^(B)firm in your faith, knowing that ^(C)the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your ^[b]brothers and sisters who are in the world.

³ so that no one would be ^[a]disturbed by these afflictions. For you yourselves know that ^(A)we have been destined for this.

^3 (A)And not only this, but ^[a]we also ^(B)celebrate in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about ^(C)perseverance;

¹⁷ and if children, ^(A)heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, ^(B)if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.

²² strengthening the souls of ^(A)the disciples, encouraging them to continue in ^(B)the faith, and saying, “^(C)It is through many tribulations that we must enter the kingdom of God.”
