3 Maccabees 1:28-29

28 The continuous, vehement, and concerted cry of the crowds[a] resulted in an immense uproar; 29 for it seemed that not only the men but also the walls and the whole earth around echoed, because indeed all at that time[b] preferred death to the profanation of the place.
