2 He had James, the brother of John,[a] killed by the sword, 3 [b]and when he saw that this was pleasing to the Jews he proceeded to arrest Peter also. (It was [the] feast of Unleavened Bread.) 4 He had him taken into custody and put in prison under the guard of four squads of four soldiers each. He intended to bring him before the people after Passover.

New International Version
2 He had James, the brother of John,(A) put to death with the sword.(B) 3 When he saw that this met with approval among the Jews,(C) he proceeded to seize Peter also. This happened during the Festival of Unleavened Bread.(D) 4 After arresting him, he put him in prison, handing him over to be guarded by four squads of four soldiers each. Herod intended to bring him out for public trial after the Passover.(E)
