“Men of Israel, and ^(B)you who fear God, listen:

³³ Some of the crowd ^[a]concluded it was Alexander, since the Jews had put him forward; and having ^(A)motioned with his hand, Alexander was intending to make a defense to the assembly.

⁴⁰ When he had given him permission, Paul, standing on ^(A)the stairs, ^(B)motioned to the people with his hand; and when there ^[a]was a great silence, he spoke to them in the ^[b](C)Hebrew dialect, saying,
