5 When they reached Salamis, they began to proclaim the word of God in (A)the synagogues of the Jews; and they also had (B)John as their helper. 6 When they had gone through the whole island as far as Paphos, they found a (C)magician, a Jewish (D)false prophet whose name was Bar-Jesus, 7 who was with the (E)proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of intelligence. This man summoned Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God.

5 When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God(A) in the Jewish synagogues.(B) John(C) was with them as their helper.
6 They traveled through the whole island until they came to Paphos. There they met a Jewish sorcerer(D) and false prophet(E) named Bar-Jesus, 7 who was an attendant of the proconsul,(F) Sergius Paulus. The proconsul, an intelligent man, sent for Barnabas and Saul because he wanted to hear the word of God.
