5 Arriving in the city of Salamis, they began to spread God’s word in the synagogues. John Mark had gone along to help them. 6 They went through the whole island as far as the city of Paphos.
In Paphos they met a Jewish man named Barjesus. He was an astrologer who claimed to be a prophet. 7 He was associated with an intelligent man, Sergius Paulus, who was the governor of the island. The governor sent for Barnabas and Saul because he wanted to hear the word of God.

New International Version
5 When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God(A) in the Jewish synagogues.(B) John(C) was with them as their helper.
6 They traveled through the whole island until they came to Paphos. There they met a Jewish sorcerer(D) and false prophet(E) named Bar-Jesus, 7 who was an attendant of the proconsul,(F) Sergius Paulus. The proconsul, an intelligent man, sent for Barnabas and Saul because he wanted to hear the word of God.
