38 but Paul held the opinion they should not take this one along, who departed from them in Pamphylia and did not accompany them in the work. 39 And a sharp disagreement took place, so that they separated from one another. And Barnabas took along Mark and[a] sailed away to Cyprus, 40 but Paul chose Silas and[b] departed, after[c] being commended to the grace of the Lord by the brothers.

38 but Paul did not think it wise to take him, because he had deserted them(A) in Pamphylia and had not continued with them in the work. 39 They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company. Barnabas took Mark and sailed for Cyprus, 40 but Paul chose Silas(B) and left, commended by the believers to the grace of the Lord.(C)
