29 For they had previously seen (A)Trophimus the Ephesian with him in the city, and they supposed that Paul had brought him into the temple. 30 Then all the city was stirred up, and the people ran together. They seized Paul and (B)dragged him out of the temple, and at once the gates were shut. 31 (C)And as they were seeking to kill him, word came to the tribune of (D)the cohort that all Jerusalem was in confusion.

30 The whole city was aroused, and the people came running from all directions. Seizing Paul,(C) they dragged him(D) from the temple, and immediately the gates were shut. 31 While they were trying to kill him, news reached the commander of the Roman troops that the whole city of Jerusalem was in an uproar.
