18 And saw him saying unto me: Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem; because they will not receive thy testimony concerning me.
19 And I said: Lord, they know that I cast into prison, and beat in every synagogue, them that believed in thee.
20 And when the blood of Stephen thy witness was shed, I stood by and consented, and kept the garments of them that killed him.

New International Version
18 and saw the Lord speaking to me. ‘Quick!’ he said. ‘Leave Jerusalem immediately, because the people here will not accept your testimony about me.’
19 “‘Lord,’ I replied, ‘these people know that I went from one synagogue to another to imprison(A) and beat(B) those who believe in you. 20 And when the blood of your martyr[a] Stephen was shed, I stood there giving my approval and guarding the clothes of those who were killing him.’(C)
