26 He hoped that Paul would give him money to free him. And so he often sent for Paul and talked with him.
27 After two years, a man named Porcius Festus came to rule in Felix's place. Felix had wanted to please the Jewish leaders, so he left Paul in prison.

26 At the same time he was hoping that Paul would offer him a bribe, so he sent for him frequently and talked with him.
27 When two years had passed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus,(A) but because Felix wanted to grant a favor to the Jews,(B) he left Paul in prison.(C)
