7 When he had arrived, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood around him, bringing many and serious charges against him (A)that they could not prove. 8 Paul argued in his defence, “Neither (B)against (C)the law of the Jews, nor against the temple, nor (D)against Caesar have I committed any offence.” 9 But Festus, (E)wishing to do the Jews a favour, said to Paul, “Do you wish to go up to Jerusalem and there be tried on these charges before me?”

7 When Paul came in, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood around him. They brought many serious charges against him,(A) but they could not prove them.(B)
8 Then Paul made his defense: “I have done nothing wrong against the Jewish law or against the temple(C) or against Caesar.”
9 Festus, wishing to do the Jews a favor,(D) said to Paul, “Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem and stand trial before me there on these charges?”(E)
