New International Version
7 We made slow headway for many days and had difficulty arriving off Cnidus. When the wind did not allow us to hold our course,(A) we sailed to the lee of Crete,(B) opposite Salmone.

12 Since the harbor was unsuitable to winter in, the majority decided to set sail from there, hoping somehow to reach Phoenix, a harbor on Crete(A) open to the southwest and northwest, and to winter there.
