3 Instead, (A)brothers and sisters, select from among you seven men of good reputation, (B)full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge of this task. 4 But we will (C)devote ourselves to prayer and to the [a]ministry of the word.” 5 The [b]announcement found approval with the whole [c]congregation; and they chose (D)Stephen, a man (E)full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and (F)Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and [d]Nicolas, a [e](G)proselyte from (H)Antioch. 6 And they brought these men before the apostles; and after (I)praying, they (J)laid their hands on them.

3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
