5 (A) God didn't give him any part of it, not even a square meter. But God did promise to give it to him and his family forever, even though Abraham didn't have any children.

5 He gave him no inheritance here,(A) not even enough ground to set his foot on. But God promised him that he and his descendants after him would possess the land,(B) even though at that time Abraham had no child.

16 That is how it is with the promises God made to Abraham and his descendant.[a] The promises were not made to many descendants, but only to one, and that one is Christ.
