Paul Selects Timothy

16 Then he went on to Derbe and Lystra, where there was a disciple named Timothy,^(A) the son of a believing Jewish woman,^(B) but his father was a Greek.

¹⁸ This greeting is in my own hand—Paul. Remember my imprisonment.^(A) Grace be with you.^[a](B)

² And we sent Timothy,^(A) our brother and God’s coworker^[a] in the gospel of Christ,^(B) to strengthen and encourage you concerning your faith,

⁷ Remember your leaders who have spoken God’s word to you. As you carefully observe the outcome of their lives, imitate their faith.^(A)

¹⁷ Obey your leaders^[a] and submit to them, for they keep watch^(A) over your souls as those who will give an account, so that they can do this with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.

¹² I have written you this brief letter through Silvanus^[a](A) (I know him to be a faithful brother) to encourage you and to testify that this is the true grace of God. Take your stand in it!
