The Accusation against Paul

24 Five days later Ananias^(A) the high priest came down with some elders and a lawyer named Tertullus. These men presented their case against Paul to the governor.^(B)

²⁷ After two years had passed, Porcius Festus^(A) succeeded Felix, and because Felix wanted to do the Jews a favor,^(B) he left Paul in prison.^(C)

⁶ When he had spent not more than eight or ten days among them, he went down to Caesarea. The next day, seated at the tribunal, he commanded Paul to be brought in.^(A)

²⁴ and said, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul. It is necessary for you to appear before Caesar. And indeed, God has graciously given you all those who are sailing with you.’

²³ Are they servants of Christ? I’m talking like a madman—I’m a better one: with far more labors, many more imprisonments, far worse beatings, many times near death.
