⁴⁰ And with many other words he solemnly ^(A)testified and kept on urging them, saying, “^[a]Be saved from this ^(B)perverse generation!”

An Ethiopian Receives Christ

²⁵ So, when they had solemnly ^(A)testified and spoken ^(B)the word of the Lord, they started back to Jerusalem, and were ^(C)preaching the gospel to many villages of the ^(D)Samaritans.

⁴² And He ^(A)ordered us to ^[a]preach to the people, and to ^(B)testify solemnly that this is the One who has been ^(C)appointed by God as ^(D)Judge of the living and the dead.

⁵ But when ^(A)Silas and Timothy ^(B)came down from ^(C)Macedonia, Paul began devoting himself completely to the word, ^(D)testifying to the Jews that ^(E)Jesus was the ^[a]Christ.

²¹ solemnly ^(A)testifying to both Jews and Greeks of ^(B)repentance toward God and ^(C)faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. ²² And now, behold, bound by the ^[a]Spirit, ^(D)I am on my way to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there, ²³ except that ^(E)the Holy Spirit solemnly ^(F)testifies to me in every city, saying that ^(G)chains and afflictions await me. ²⁴ But ^(H)I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may ^(I)finish my course and ^(J)the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to ^(K)testify solemnly of the gospel of ^(L)God’s grace.

²⁵ “And now behold, I know that all of you, among whom I went about ^(M)preaching the kingdom, will no longer see my face. ²⁶ Therefore, I ^[b]testify to you this day that ^(N)I am ^[c]innocent of the blood of all people. ²⁷ For I ^(O)did not shrink from declaring to you the whole ^(P)purpose of God. ²⁸ Be on guard for yourselves and for all ^(Q)the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you ^[d]overseers, to shepherd ^(R)the church of God which ^(S)He ^[e]purchased ^[f]with His own blood. ²⁹ I know that after my departure ^(T)savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing ^(U)the flock; ³⁰ and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things to draw away ^(V)the disciples after them. ³¹ Therefore, be on the alert, remembering that night and day for a period of ^(W)three years I did not cease to admonish each one ^(X)with tears. ³² And now I ^(Y)entrust you to God and to ^(Z)the word of His grace, which is able to ^(AA)build you up and to give you ^(AB)the inheritance among all those who are sanctified. ^33 (AC)I have coveted no one’s silver or gold or clothes. ³⁴ You yourselves know that ^(AD)these hands served my own needs and the ^(AE)men who were with me. ³⁵ In everything I showed you that by working hard in this way you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

³⁶ When he had said these things, he ^(AF)knelt down and prayed with them all. ³⁷ And ^[g]they all began to weep aloud and ^[h](AG)embraced Paul, and repeatedly kissed him, ^38 [i]grieving especially over ^(AH)the word which he had spoken, that they would not see his face again. And they were ^(AI)accompanying him to the ship.

¹¹ But on ^(A)the following night, the Lord stood near him and said, “^(B)Be courageous! For ^(C)as you have ^(D)testified to the truth about Me in Jerusalem, so you must testify in Rome also.”

²³ When they had set a day for ^[a]Paul, people came to him at ^(A)his lodging in large numbers; and he was explaining to them by solemnly ^(B)testifying about the kingdom of God and trying to persuade them concerning Jesus, ^(C)from both the Law of Moses and from the Prophets, from morning until evening.

³ And I ^(A)testify again to every man who has himself ^(B)circumcised, that he is obligated to ^(C)keep the whole Law.

^17 (A)So I say this, and affirm in the Lord, ^(B)that you are to no longer walk just as the ^[a]Gentiles also walk, in the ^(C)futility of their minds,
