A Generous and Growing Church

⁴¹ So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about 3,000 people were added to them.

⁴ But many of those who heard the message believed, and the number of the men came to about 5,000.

³⁵ and laid them at the apostles’ feet. This was then distributed for each person’s basic needs.^[a](A)

¹⁴ Believers were added to the Lord in increasing numbers—crowds of both men and women.

²⁹ He conversed and debated with the Hellenistic Jews,^[a] but they attempted to kill him.^(A)

³⁹ So Peter got up and went with them. When he arrived, they led him to the room upstairs. And all the widows approached him, weeping and showing him the robes and clothes that Dorcas had made while she was with them.

²⁰ But there were some of them, Cypriot and Cyrenian men, who came to Antioch and began speaking to the Hellenists,^[a][b] proclaiming the good news about the Lord Jesus.^(A)
