Amos 1:2-4 Lexham English Bible (LEB)

Judgment on Israel’s Neighbors

And he said, “Yahweh roars from Zion and he utters his voice from Jerusalem; the pastures of the shepherds wither and the top of Carmel dries up.” Thus says Yahweh, “For three transgressions of Damascus and for four I will not revoke the punishment,[a] because they threshed Gilead with threshing sledges of iron! So I will send fire against Hazael’s house and it will consume the citadel fortresses of Ben-Hadad.

Amos 1:2-4 New International Version (NIV)

He said:

“The Lord roars from Zion
    and thunders from Jerusalem;
the pastures of the shepherds dry up,
    and the top of Carmel withers.”

Judgment on Israel’s Neighbors

This is what the Lord says:

“For three sins of Damascus,
    even for four, I will not relent.
Because she threshed Gilead
    with sledges having iron teeth,
I will send fire on the house of Hazael
    that will consume the fortresses of Ben-Hadad.
