Amos 5:15-17
Holman Christian Standard Bible

15 Hate evil and love good;(A)
establish justice in the gate.(B)
Perhaps the Lord, the God of Hosts, will be gracious(C)
to the remnant of Joseph.(D)

16 Therefore Yahweh, the God of Hosts, the Lord, says:

There will be wailing in all the public squares;(E)
they will cry out in anguish[a] in all the streets.
The farmer will be called on to mourn,(F)
and professional mourners[b](G) to wail.
17 There will be wailing in all the vineyards,(H)
for I will pass among you.(I)
The Lord has spoken.

    maintain justice in the courts.(C)
Perhaps(D) the Lord God Almighty will have mercy(E)
    on the remnant(F) of Joseph.

16 Therefore this is what the Lord, the Lord God Almighty, says:

“There will be wailing(G) in all the streets(H)
    and cries of anguish in every public square.
The farmers(I) will be summoned to weep
    and the mourners to wail.
17 There will be wailing(J) in all the vineyards,
    for I will pass through(K) your midst,”
says the Lord.(L)
