²⁷Tekel; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.

²⁸Peres; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

²⁷Tekel^[a]: You have been weighed on the scales^(A) and found wanting.^(B)

²⁸Peres^[b]: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes^(C) and Persians.”^(D)

Daniel 5:27 Tekel can mean weighed or shekel.
Daniel 5:28 Peres (the singular of Parsin) can mean divided or Persia or a half mina or a half shekel.
