35 and some of those who are wise shall fall, to refine and to cleanse them[a] and to make them white, until the time of the end, for it is yet for the time appointed.

36 “And the king shall do according to his will; he shall exalt himself and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak astonishing things against the God of gods. He shall prosper till the indignation is accomplished; for what is determined shall be done. 37 He shall give no heed to the gods of his fathers, or to the one beloved by women; he shall not give heed to any other god, for he shall magnify himself above all.

The King Who Exalts Himself

36 “The king will do as he pleases. He will exalt and magnify himself(B) above every god and will say unheard-of things(C) against the God of gods.(D) He will be successful until the time of wrath(E) is completed, for what has been determined must take place.(F) 37 He will show no regard for the gods of his ancestors or for the one desired by women, nor will he regard any god, but will exalt himself above them all.
