Daniel 12:6-8 Contemporary English Version (CEV)

The angel who had spoken to me was dressed in linen and was standing upstream from them.[a] So one of the two beside the river asked him, “How long before these amazing things happen?”

The angel then raised both hands toward heaven and said, “In the name of the God who lives forever, I solemnly promise that it will be a time, two times, and half a time.[b] Everything will be over, when the suffering of God’s holy people comes to an end.”

I heard what the angel said, but I didn’t understand. So I asked, “Sir, how will it all end?”

The angel in my vision then replied:

  1. 12.6 angel. . . upstream from them: See 10.4-6.
  2. 12.7 a time, two times, and half a time: Or “a year, two years, and half a year,” that is, about 1260 days.

Daniel 12:6-8 New International Version (NIV)

One of them said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, “How long will it be before these astonishing things are fulfilled?”

The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives forever, saying, “It will be for a time, times and half a time.[a] When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed.

I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, “My lord, what will the outcome of all this be?”
