Then the Chaldeans spoke to the king in [a](A)Aramaic: “(B)O king, live forever! (C)Tell the dream to your servants, and we will declare the interpretation.” The king replied to the Chaldeans, “The command [b]from me is firm: if you do not make known to me the dream and its interpretation, you will be [c](D)torn limb from limb and your houses will be turned into a rubbish heap. But if you declare the dream and its interpretation, you will receive from me (E)gifts and a reward and great honor; therefore declare to me the dream and its interpretation.”

Then the astrologers answered the king,[a](A) “May the king live forever!(B) Tell your servants the dream, and we will interpret it.”

The king replied to the astrologers, “This is what I have firmly decided:(C) If you do not tell me what my dream was and interpret it, I will have you cut into pieces(D) and your houses turned into piles of rubble.(E) But if you tell me the dream and explain it, you will receive from me gifts and rewards and great honor.(F) So tell me the dream and interpret it for me.”
