The king replied, “I know for certain that you are trying to buy time, because you have perceived that the command [a]from me is firm, that if you do not make the dream known to me, there is only (A)one [b]decree for you. For you have agreed together to speak lying and corrupt [c]words before me until the [d]situation is changed; therefore tell me the dream, so that I may (B)know that you can declare to me its interpretation.” 10 The Chaldeans answered [e]the king and said, “There is no person on earth who could declare the matter [f]to the king, because no great king or ruler has ever asked anything like this of any (C)soothsayer priest, sorcerer, or Chaldean.

Then the king answered, “I am certain that you are trying to gain time, because you realize that this is what I have firmly decided: If you do not tell me the dream, there is only one penalty(A) for you. You have conspired to tell me misleading and wicked things, hoping the situation will change. So then, tell me the dream, and I will know that you can interpret it for me.”(B)

10 The astrologers(C) answered the king, “There is no one on earth who can do what the king asks! No king, however great and mighty, has ever asked such a thing of any magician or enchanter or astrologer.(D)
