16 So I approached one of the attendants and I asked him[a] about the truth concerning all this; and he told me[b] that he would make known to me the explanation of the matter. 17 ‘These great beasts which are four in number are four kings who will arise from the earth. 18 But the holy ones[c] of the Most High will receive the kingdom, and they will take possession of the kingdom forever, forever and ever.’[d]

16 I approached one of those standing there and asked him the meaning of all this.
“So he told me and gave me the interpretation(A) of these things: 17 ‘The four great beasts are four kings that will rise from the earth. 18 But the holy people(B) of the Most High will receive the kingdom(C) and will possess it forever—yes, for ever and ever.’(D)
