10 It grew great, even to the army of the sky; and it cast down some of the army and of the stars to the ground, and trampled on them. 11 Yes, it magnified itself, even to the prince of the army; and it took away from him the continual burnt offering, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down. 12 The army was given over to it together with the continual burnt offering through disobedience. It cast down truth to the ground, and it did its pleasure and prospered.

10 It grew until it reached(A) the host of the heavens, and it threw some of the starry host down to the earth(B) and trampled(C) on them. 11 It set itself up to be as great as the commander(D) of the army of the Lord;(E) it took away the daily sacrifice(F) from the Lord, and his sanctuary was thrown down.(G) 12 Because of rebellion, the Lord’s people[a] and the daily sacrifice were given over to it. It prospered in everything it did, and truth was thrown to the ground.(H)
