2 in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, discerned in the books the (A)number of the years concerning which the word of [a]Yahweh came to (B)Jeremiah the prophet for the fulfillment of the laying waste of Jerusalem, namely, (C)seventy years. 3 So I gave my face to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes. 4 And I prayed to Yahweh my God and confessed and said, “Alas, O Lord, the (D)great and awesome God, who (E)keeps His covenant and lovingkindness for those who love Him and keep His commandments,

New International Version
2 in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy(A) years. 3 So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting,(B) and in sackcloth and ashes.(C)
