Deuteronomy 1:3-5

3 And it was[a] in the fortieth year, on the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, Moses spoke to the Israelites[b] according to all that Yahweh had instructed him to speak to them. 4 This happened after defeating[c] Sihon king of the Amorites, who was reigning[d] in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, who was reigning[e] in Ashtaroth in Edrei. 5 On the other side of [f] the Jordan in the land of Moab Moses began to explain this law,[g] saying:[h]

3 In the fortieth year,(A) on the first day of the eleventh month,(B) Moses proclaimed(C) to the Israelites all that the Lord had commanded him concerning them. 4 This was after he had defeated Sihon(D) king of the Amorites,(E) who reigned in Heshbon,(F) and at Edrei had defeated Og(G) king of Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth.(H)
5 East of the Jordan in the territory of Moab,(I) Moses began to expound this law, saying:
