^2 (A)You shall utterly destroy all the places where the nations which you shall dispossess served their gods, ^(B)on the high mountains and on the hills and under every green tree. ³ And ^(C)you shall destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and burn their ^[a]wooden images with fire; you shall cut down the carved images of their gods and destroy their names from that place. ⁴ You shall not ^(D)worship the Lord your God with such things.

⁵ “But you shall seek the ^(E)place where the Lord your God chooses, out of all your tribes, to put His name for His ^(F)dwelling^[b] place; and there you shall go.

¹³ Take heed to yourself that you do not offer your burnt offerings in every place that you see;

¹⁴ but in the place which the Lord chooses, in one of your tribes, there you shall offer your burnt offerings, and there you shall do all that I command you.

^7 (A)Then Solomon built a ^[a]high place for ^(B)Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on ^(C)the hill that is east of Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the people of Ammon.

⁴³ And ^(A)he walked in all the ways of his father Asa. He did not turn aside from them, doing what was right in the eyes of the Lord. Nevertheless ^(B)the high places were not taken away, for the people offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places.
