4 There must not be a scrap of yeast within your land[a] for seven days, nor can any of the meat you sacrifice on the evening of the first day remain until the next morning.[b] 5 You may not sacrifice the Passover in just any of your villages[c] that the Lord your God is giving you, 6 but you must sacrifice it[d] in the evening in[e] the place where he[f] chooses to locate his name, at sunset, the time of day you came out of Egypt.

- Deuteronomy 16:4 tn Heb “remain all night until the morning” (so KJV, ASV). This has been simplified in the translation for stylistic reasons.

- Deuteronomy 16:6 tn Heb “the Passover.” The translation uses a pronoun to avoid redundancy in English.
- Deuteronomy 16:6 tc The MT reading אֶל (ʾel, “unto”) before “the place” should, following Smr, Syriac, Targums, and Vulgate, be omitted in favor of ב (bet; בַּמָּקוֹם, bammaqom), “in the place.”

4 Let no yeast be found in your possession in all your land for seven days. Do not let any of the meat you sacrifice on the evening(A) of the first day remain until morning.(B)
5 You must not sacrifice the Passover in any town the Lord your God gives you 6 except in the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name. There you must sacrifice the Passover in the evening, when the sun goes down, on the anniversary[a](C) of your departure from Egypt.
