Deuteronomy 17:13-15
New English Translation
13 Then all the people will hear and be afraid, and not be so presumptuous again.
Provision for Kingship
14 When you come to the land the Lord your God is giving you and take it over and live in it and then say, “I will select a king like all the nations surrounding me,” 15 you must select without fail[a] a king whom the Lord your God chooses. From among your fellow citizens[b] you must appoint a king—you may not designate a foreigner who is not one of your fellow Israelites.[c]

New International Version
13 All the people will hear and be afraid, and will not be contemptuous again.(A)
The King
14 When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you and have taken possession(B) of it and settled in it,(C) and you say, “Let us set a king over us like all the nations around us,”(D) 15 be sure to appoint(E) over you a king the Lord your God chooses. He must be from among your fellow Israelites.(F) Do not place a foreigner over you, one who is not an Israelite.
