^16 (A)In any case, he is not to acquire many horses for himself, nor shall he ^(B)make the people return to Egypt in order to acquire many horses, since ^(C)the Lord has said to you, ‘You shall never again return that way.’

¹⁷ So all the people who set their ^[a]minds to go to Egypt to reside there will die by the ^(A)sword, by famine, or by plague; and they will ^(B)have no refugees or survivors from the disaster that I am going to bring on them.”’”

¹² And I will ^(A)take away the remnant of Judah who have set their ^[a]minds on entering the land of Egypt to reside there, and they will all ^[b](B)meet their end in the land of Egypt; they will fall by the sword or meet their end by famine. From the small to the great, they will die by the sword and famine; and they will become a ^(C)curse, an object of horror, ^[c]an imprecation, and a disgrace. ¹³ And I will ^(D)punish those who live in the land of Egypt, just as I have punished Jerusalem, with the sword, with famine, and with plague. ¹⁴ So there will be ^(E)no survivor or refugee for the remnant of Judah who have entered the land of Egypt to reside there and then to return to the land of Judah, to which they are ^[d](F)longing to return to live; for none will ^(G)return except a few refugees.’”
