The hands of the witnesses must be the first in putting that person to death,(A) and then the hands of all the people.(B) You must purge the evil(C) from among you.

If cases come before your courts that are too difficult for you to judge(D)—whether bloodshed, lawsuits or assaults(E)—take them to the place the Lord your God will choose.(F) Go to the Levitical(G) priests and to the judge(H) who is in office at that time. Inquire of them and they will give you the verdict.(I)

If there arise a matter too hard for thee in judgment, between blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, being matters of controversy within thy gates: then shalt thou arise, and get thee up into the place which the Lord thy God shall choose;
