27 “If you let us pass through your country, · we will stay on the road and [L I will] not turn right or left. 28 We will pay you in silver for any food we eat or water we drink. We only want to walk through your country. 29 The ·descendants [sons] of Esau in ·Edom [L Seir; 1:44] let us go through their land, and so did the Moabites in Ar. We want to cross the Jordan River into the land the Lord our God has given us.”

27 “Let us pass through your country. We will stay on the main road; we will not turn aside to the right or to the left.(A) 28 Sell us food to eat(B) and water to drink for their price in silver. Only let us pass through on foot(C)— 29 as the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir, and the Moabites, who live in Ar, did for us—until we cross the Jordan into the land the Lord our God is giving us.”
